About Us

Meadow Rise Farm is located in Knox, NY, in the Helderberg Mountains outside of Albany.  Our land is divided equally between the woods and the meadows. Our woods are full of maples and hickories and dense groves of towering hemlocks.  In the spring, wild ramps emerge from atop the stone ledge that borders our upper meadow.  Morels peek out from the soil beneath ancient, stonewall lined hedgerows, as the soil warms with the season, grasses and wildflowers explode in new growth. In the summer, our meadows hum heavy with life and bloom with native milkweed, blue vervain, boneset, and elderflower. In the autumn, wild turkeys forage under a grove of shagbark hickories.  Whitetail deer find a bounty of wild grown apples and pears along the meadow’s edge. Swallows and meadowlarks, who have taken refuge and nested in our meadows, head south to their winter ranges.  In the winter, the wind piles snow as high as the fence posts as the land and the farmers rest and prepare for spring’s return.

Within this natural cycle of the seasons, in tune with the rhythm of the land and ecosystem of our farm, we raise our animals.  All of our livestock contribute to maintaining a healthy and vibrant ecosystem that ensure the health of the animals, the local wildlife, land, and ourselves.
